Mission Beach (also known as The Strand) is THE classic San Diego beach community, with its location between the ocean and the 4,600-acre Mission Bay Park. The two-mile long beach extends from the Mission Bay Channel entrance to the north end of Pacific Beach.
Popular activities on the ocean side include swimming, surfing, sunbathing and other beach activities. On the bay side, sports enthusiasts prefer jet skiing, windsurfing and sailing. Walking, biking and related activities take place on the concrete boardwalk that parallels the beach. Mission Beach features shops, restaurants and beach rental outfitters, the famous Big Dipper Roller Coaster, Belmont Park shopping center, and The Plunge swimming pool.
Housing includes beachfront apartment buildings, condominiums and homes as well as the upscale neighborhood of Crown Point. |
